లినక్సు డైరెక్టరీ క్రమం

లక్ష్యం:

దేని గురించైనా తెలుసుకోవాలంటే దాని ఆకారం లేదా ప్రవర్తన గూర్చి తెలుసుకోవటం ఎంతైనా అవసరం. అలాగే లినక్స్ గూర్చి తెలుసుకోవటానికి దాని డైరెక్టరీ క్రమం గూర్చి తెలుసుకోవటం ఉపయోగకరం. అందులోనూ లినక్స్ కు మరియు విండోస్ కు, వాటి వాటి పొందికలలో చాలా వ్యత్యాసం ఉంది. ఎక్కడెక్కడ ఏ ఏ విషయాలకు సంబందించిన దాఖలాలు ఉంటాయో ఈ టపాలో తెలుసుకొందాం.

విండోస్ లో ఏదైనా ఫైల్ ఉన్న దారి సూచించాలంటే క్రింద తెలిపిన విధంగా వాడతాము.

అదే లినక్స్ లో అయితే ఇలా వాడతాము

/folder/subfolder/file.txt
ఇక్కడ గమనిస్తే, విండోస్ లో వాడిన స్లాష్ గుర్తు వెనక్కు వాలినదై ఉంది(back slash). అదే లినక్స్ లో ఐతే ముందుకు వాలినదై ఉంటుంది.

అలాగే విండోస్ లో లాగా లినక్స్ లో సీ మరియు డీ డ్రైవ్ ల లాంటివి కనపడవు. ఎందువలనంటే లినక్స్ లో ప్రతి ఒక్క డ్రైవ్ లేదా ఫైల్ లేదా ఏ డివైస్ అయినా కాని ఒకే ఒక పార్టిషన్ క్రింద ఉన్న డైరెక్టరీలలో ఎక్కుపెట్టబడి ఉంటాయి. దాని పేరు రూట్ పార్టిషన్. దానిని / గుర్తుతో సూచిస్తారు. పైన తెలిపిన వాడుకను గమనిస్తే ఆ దారిలో మొదటి గుర్తు / గా ఉంది.

విండోస్ కు మరియు లినక్స్ కు మరో తేడా ఉంది. విండోస్ లో దారి సూచించేటప్పుడు పెద్ద C కు మరియు చిన్న c కు తేడా లేదు. అందుకే c:\folder\subfolder\file.txt మరియు C:\FOLDER\subfolder\file.txt విండోస్ లో ఒక్కటే. కానీ లినక్సులో /folder/subfolder/file.txt మరియూ /FOLDER/subfolder/file.txt ఒకటి కాదు.

లినక్సులో మనం తెలుసుకోవలసిన డైరెక్టరీల పట్టీ ఇది:

/bin/ - బిన్

/dev/ - డెవ్

/etc/ - ఈ.టి.సీ

/home/ - హోం

/lib/ - లిబ్

/media/ - మీడియా

/root/ - రూట్

/sbin/ - ఎస్ బిన్

/tmp/ - టెంప్

/var/ - వ్యార్

డైరెక్టరీ అందులో ఏం ఉంటాయి?

బిన్ (bin) ఇందులో ప్రతి యూజర్ వాడుకోగలిగే అన్ని ప్రోగ్రాంలు ఉంటాయి. అన్నీ బైనరీ ఫైళ్ళే. అందుకే దీని పేరు bin(ary). ఉదాహరణకి : cat, ls, cp ప్రోగ్రాంలు ఇందులోనే ఉంటాయి.

డెవ్ (dev) ఇందులో హార్డ్ డిస్కులు, మోడెం లు , సౌండ్ కార్డ్ లాంటి అన్ని పరికరాలని(devices) సూచించే ఫైల్లు ఉంటాయి.

ఇటిసి (etc) ఇందులో టెల్ నెట్, ఎస్ ఎస్ హెచ్, ఎస్.యమ.టి.పి/పాప్౩ లాంటివాటి సెట్టింగులు ఉంటాయి. DSN సెట్టింగుల లాంటివి ఇందులో ఉన్న ఫైల్ లలో నే ఉంటాయి.

హోం (home) ప్రతి యూజర్ ఎకౌంటు కు ఒక డైరెక్టరీ ఇందులో ఉంటుంది. మీరు లాగిన్ అయినప్పుడు మీకు కనపడే డెస్క్టాపు కుడా ఈ డైరెక్టరి లోని భాగమే. దిని యొక్క చిరునామా - /home/username/Desktop టెర్మినల్ ద్వారా లాగిన్ ఐతే ఆ యూజర్ యొక్క హోం డైరెక్టరీ లోనికి తిసుకేలుతుంది. /home/username ఈ డైరెక్టరీ ని మార్చాలంటే ఈ.టి.సీ లో ఉన్న ఫైల్ ను ఒకదానిని మార్చాలి.

రూట్ (root) లినక్స్ లో సర్వాధికారాలు కలిగిన వాడుకరి పేరు రూట్. ఈ వాడుకరికి తన హోం డైరెక్టరి /home లో ఇవ్వటానికి బదులు /root గా ఇవ్వబడుతుంది

లిబ్ (lib) ఇందులో కెర్నెల్ మాడ్యుళ్ళు మరియూ కంప్యుటర్ భాష లకు (పెర్ల్, పైతాన్, సీ మొ

) సంభందించిన లైబ్రరీలు(libraries) ఉంటాయి

మీడియా (media) ఇందులో హార్డ్ డిస్క్ డ్రైవ్ లు, సీ.డీ.డ్రైవ్ లు, పెన్ డ్రైవ్ లు లాంటివి ఎక్కుపెట్టబడి ఉంటాయి. విండోస్ లో మై-కంప్యుటర్ లో కనిపించినవన్నమాట.

ఎస్.బిన్ (sbin) సిస్టం ప్రోగ్రాంలు ఇక్కడ ఉంచబడుతాయి(secure binary files అన్నమాట.). పార్టిషన్ లు తయారు చేయటం, నెట్వర్క్ పరికరాలు లాంటివి. సాధారణ వాడుకరులకు ఇవి అందుబాటులో ఉండవు.

టెంప్ (tmp) తాత్కాలికంగా(temporary) ఏదైనా ఫైల్ ను భద్రపరచాలంటే ఈ డైరెక్టరీ ని వాడుతారు. యుట్యూబ్ లో విడియో లు చూస్తున్న సమయము లో, ఈ డైరెక్టరీ లో ఆ విడియో ఫైల్ ఉంటుంది. అలాగే ఏదైనా ఇంస్టాల్ చేస్తున్నప్పుడు తాత్కాలింకంగా కావలసిన ఫైళ్ళను ఇక్కడ ఉంచుతుంది.

వ్యార్ (var) డేటా బేసులు, సర్వర్లు, లాగ్ ఫైల్లు, సిస్టం యొక్క మెయిల్ మెసేజ్ లు ఇక్కడుంటాయి. అలాగే ఇంస్టాల్ చేసిన కొన్ని సాఫ్ట్వేర్ ల యొక్క బైనరీ ఫైల్లు కూడా ఇందులో ఉంటాయి

Virtual Drive Manager - వర్చువల్ డ్రైవ్స్ మేనేజ్ చెయ్యటానికి ఉచిత పోర్టబుల్ యుటిలిటీ

మరింత సమాచారం కోసం Virtual Drive Manager సైట్ ని చూడండి.

మన హార్డ్ డిస్క్ లేదా నెట్ వర్క్ లోని ఏదైనా కావలసిన ఫోల్డర్ ని త్వరగా My Computer నుండి యాక్సెస్ చెయ్యటానికి వర్చువల్ డ్రైవ్ ని క్రియేట్ చేస్తాం. వర్చువల్ డ్రైవ్ క్రియేట్ చేసిన తర్వాత వాటిని My Computer లో ఇతర లోకల్ డిస్క్ ల మాదిరిగానే చూడవచ్చు. కాని ఫిజికల్ గా డాటా మాత్రం ఒరిజినల్ లొకేషన్లలోనే వుంటుంది. ఒక్కొక్కసారి నెట్ వర్క్ లో ఒక ఫోల్డర్ ని యాక్సెస్ చెయ్యటానికి లాంగ్ పాత్ వుంటుంది, అదే ఫోల్డర్ కి వర్చువల్ డ్రైవ్ క్రియేట్ చేసుకొంటే దానిని డైరెక్ట్ గా మన My Computer నుండే యాక్సెస్ చెయ్యవచ్చు. ఇది ఒక విధంగా Map Network Drive లాంటిదే.

Virtual Drive Manager అనే చిన్న ఉచిత పోర్టబుల్ యుటిలిటీని ఉపయోగించి వర్చువల్ డ్రైవ్ లను క్రియేట్ చేసుకోవచ్చు. ఎటువంటి ఇనస్టలేషన్ అవసరం లేకుండా కావలసిన ఫోల్డర్ వర్చువల్ డ్రైవ్ ని వేగంగా క్రియేట్ చెయ్యటానికి ఇది ఉపయోగపడుతుంది. ఒకసారి క్రియేట్ చెయ్యబడిన వర్చువల్ డ్రైవ్ లు సిస్టం రీస్టార్ట్ చేసిన తర్వాత కూడా అలానే వుంటాయి. ఎంత వేగంగా అయితే వర్చువల్ డ్రైవ్ క్రియేట్ చేస్తామో అంతే వేగంగా దానిని తొలగించవచ్చు.

Rapidshare Goes The Legal Lane - Partners With Warner Bros. Planing Launch Of Movie Download Site

In an somewhat unexpected news top file-hoster Rapidshare has entered into an partnership with Warner Bros. and is planning to launch a legal paid movie download

website, in preparation of the upcoming paid downloading service the company has already started providing legal trailer downloads of movies to its premium subscribers.

SaaS - సాఫ్ట్‌వేర్ ఒక సర్వీసు లాగా...

మీరు టెకీ అయి ఉంటే ఈ SaaS (Software as a Service) అనే పదం వినే ఉంటారు.
దీని గురించి మాట్లాడుకునే ముందు సాంప్రదాయిక సాఫ్ట్‌వేర్ ఎలా పని చేస్తుందో చూద్దాం.

ఒక పెద్ద కంపెనీని తీసుకుందాం. వారికి ఈ-మెయిలు ఉపయోగం ఉందనుకుందాం.
వారు దానిని ఈ కింది విధంగా ఏర్పరచుకోవచ్చు:

* ముందుగా ఒక ఈ-మెయిలు సర్వరుని స్థాపించాలి
* దానికి అనుసంధానంగా ఒక డాటా సెంటరు స్థాపించాలి
* తమ ఉద్యోగుల పీసీలలో ఒక మెయిలు క్లయింటుని స్థాపించాలి
* ఈ-మెయిలు సరిగా పని చేస్తుందో లేదో సరిచూడడానికి సిస్టం అడ్మిన్ ఉండాలి
* ఉద్యోగులకు వచ్చిన సమస్యలను పరిష్కరించడానికి ఐటీ డిపార్టుమెంటు ఉండాలి
* ఉద్యోగులు పెరిగిన కొద్దీ హార్డువేరు, సాఫ్టువేరు లైసెన్సులు ఎక్కువ కొనాలి

ఇందులో ఉన్న జటిలత అర్థమైందనుకుంటాను.

మరి ఇలాంటి సంక్లిష్టతని ఏ విధంగా తొలగించవచ్చు ?
దీనికి సమాధనమే SaaS (Software as a Service).

ఇదెలా పనిచేస్తుంది ?

* ఒక సర్వీసు ప్రొవైడరు ఈ-మెయిలు సర్వీసుని హోస్టు చేస్తుంది
* ఈ-మెయిలు సర్వీసు కావాలనుకున్న కంపెనీ ఆ సర్వీసు ప్రొవైడరు నుంచి సర్వీసుని కొనుక్కుంటుంది

అంతే. ఇందులో కంపెనీ చెయ్యవలసిందల్లా సర్వీసు ప్రొవైడరు నుంచి సర్వీసుని కొనుక్కోవడమే.

అయితే తెర వెనుక సర్వీసు ప్రొవైడరు కంపెనీ ఈ కింది తతంగాన్ని చెయ్యవలసివస్తుంది.

* ఈ-మెయిలు సర్వరుని స్థాపించాలి
* ఆ సర్వరులో ఒకటి కంటే ఎక్కువ కంపెనీలను హోస్టు చేసేందుకు వీలు కల్పించాలి (మల్టీ టెనన్సీ)
* హోస్టు చేసే సమాచారం భద్రంగా ఉండేలా చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలి
* ఒక కంపెనీ సమాచారాన్ని ఇంకే ఇతర కంపెనీ చూడలేకుండా చర్యలు తీసుకోవాలి
* కావలసినప్పుడు తన సర్వీసుని విస్తరించేలా ఆర్కిటెక్చరుని రూపొందించాలి
* డౌన్ టైమ్ అతి తక్కువగా ఉండేటట్లు చూసుకోవాలి

ఇందులో అటు సర్వీసు ప్రవైడరుకీ, ఇటు కంపెనీకీ లాభం ఉంది

సర్వీసు ప్రొవైడరు వైపు నుంచి చూస్తే

* తన వనరులని వృధా చెయ్యకుండా, అత్యంత ఫలవంతంగా ఉపయోగించుకుని ఎన్నో కంపెనీలకు సర్వీసుని ఇవ్వగలుగుతుంది
* పే పర్ యూజ్ మోడల్ ద్వారా రెవెన్యూ సంపాదించుకుంటుంది (అంటే వాడుకని బట్టి కంపెనీలకు ఛార్జీలు వెయ్యబడతాయి. ఉదా: వంద ఈ-మెయిలు వాడుకదార్లకి ఇంత అని ఛార్జ్ చెయ్యవచ్చు)
* కంపెనీలు సొంతంగా హోస్టు చేసుకోవట్లేదు కాబట్టి సర్వీసు కోసం సర్వీసు ప్రొవైడర్ల మీద ఆధారపడేటట్లు చేసుకోగలుగుతాయి

కంపెనీ పరంగా చూస్తే

* తనకి ఏ సర్వీసు కావాలన్నా దానికి తగ్గ వనరుల్ని సమీకరించుకోవాల్సిన అవసరం లేదు
* ఆయా వనరులని సరి చూడడానికి సిస్టం అడ్మిన్లు, ఐటీ అడ్మిన్లూ నియమించుకోనక్కర్లేదు
* ఎప్పుడు కావాలంటే అప్పుడు అవసరాన్ని బట్టి వాడుకదార్ల సంఖ్యని పెంచుకోవచ్చు, తగ్గించుకోవచ్చు (ఉదా: ఒక వంద ఈ-మెయిలు వాడుకదార్లు అదనంగా కావాలంటే కంపెనీ చెయ్యాల్సిందల్లా సర్వీసు ప్రవైడరుని అడగడమే)
* హార్డువేరు, సాఫ్టువేరు లైసెన్సుల గోల పడనక్కర్లేదు
* వినియోగదారుడయిన కంపెనీ ఉద్యోగస్తునికి సర్వీసు ఎవరి నుంచి వస్తుందో తెలియాల్సిన అవసరమే లేదు. అతనికి తన సొంత కంపెనీ హోస్టు చేసిన లేదా సర్వీసు ప్రవైడరు హోస్టు చేసినా సర్వీసు అందుతుంది. కాబట్టి అతని ఉపయోగంలో ఎలాంటి మార్పూ ఉండదు.

కాబట్టి ఇది ఇద్దరికీ విన్-విన్ సిట్యువేషన్ అన్నమాట.

నేను పైన చెప్పిన ఉదాహరణ కేవలం ఈ-మెయిలు వరకే. కానీ ప్రస్తుతం ఈ SaaS మోడలుని ఎన్నో ఇతర సర్వీసులకీ విస్తరించడం జరిగింది. ఆఫీసు, సీఆర్‌ఎమ్, Unified Communications వగయిరా.

ఆన్‌లైను ఆఫీసు ఉపకరణాలు: దీనిని ప్రస్తుతం గూగుల్, జోహో, మైక్రోసాఫ్టు వంటి కంపెనీలు ఇస్తున్నాయి. ఎన్నో ఏళ్ళ నుంచి డెస్కుటాపు పైన ఆధిపత్యం చెలాయించిన మైక్రోసాఫ్టు వంటి కంపెనీలు సైతం ఈ మోడలుని అవలంబిస్తున్నాయంటే దీనికున్న మార్కెట్టుని ఊహించుకోవచ్చు.

అలాగే ఇప్పుడు కొత్తగా వెలుగులోకొచ్చిన కాన్సెప్టు UCaaS. అంటే Unified Communications as a Service. మనం వాడే VoIP ఆధారిత ఫోన్ సర్వీసు, వాయిస్ మెయిలు, కాన్ఫరెనింగు వంటి సర్వీసులని ఈ SaaS మోడలులో ఏర్పరిస్తే వచ్చేదే ఈ UCaaS.

ఈ SaaS మోడలులో చిక్కులు లేకపోలేదు.

* ఒక కంపెనీకి సంబంధించిన సమాచారమంతా ఒక సర్వీసు ప్రొవైడరు చేతుల్లో ఉంటుంది. ఆ సర్వీసు ప్రొవైడరుకి కనుక పకడ్బందీ ప్రణాళికలు లేకపోతే సమాచారం కోల్పోయే పరిస్థితి రావచ్చు. అలాగే సమాచారం దొంగిలించబడవచ్చు. వీటన్నిటినీ పకడ్బందీగా ఆలోచించే SaaS నిర్ణయం తీసుకోవాలి.
* SaaS మోడల్‌లో మీరు ఒక సర్వీసు ప్రొవైడరు మీద ఆధారపడి ఉంటారు. మీకు కావాల్సిన సర్వీసు రిలయబిలిటీ ఆ సర్వీసు ప్రొవైడరుపై ఆధారపడి ఉంటుంది. కాబట్టి డౌన్‌టైమ్ తక్కువ ఉన్న ప్రొవైడరుని ఎంచుకోవాలి.
* ఈ సర్వీసు మీ బ్యాండ్‌విడ్త్ పైన కూడా ఆధారపడి ఉంటుంది. అదే కంపెనీలో హోస్ట్ చెయ్యబడినట్లయితే అంతర్జాలానికి అనుసంధానంలో సమస్యలు ఎదురయినా మీ సర్వీసు పని చేస్తుంది. కానె సర్వీసు ప్రొవైడరుచే హోస్టు చెయ్యబడినట్లయితే అంతర్జాలానికి అంతరాయం కలిగితే మీ సర్వీసు వాడుకోలేకపోవచ్చు.

అయితే గూగుల్, జోహో వంటి సంస్థలు పైన చెప్పిన కొన్ని ఆటంకాలను ఎదుర్కోవటానికి సిద్ధమవుతున్నాయి కూడా. ఉదా: గూగుల్, జోహో రెండూ గూగుల్ గేర్స్ ని వాడి ఆన్లైన్ సమాచారాన్ని ఆఫ్లైనులోనూ లభించేలా చెయ్యగలుగుతున్నాయి. ఇప్పుడు గూగుల్ HTML 5 లోని ఆఫ్‌లైను స్టోరేజీ స్పెసిఫికేషన్లు ఉపయోగించడానికి ప్రయత్నిస్తుంది.
